Mohamed Salah Breaks Carragher’s European Appearance Record for Liverpool
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has written another chapter in the club’s history books after surpassing the European appearance record previously held by club legend Jamie Carragher.
According to OptaJoe, Salah became Liverpool’s all-time record appearance maker in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League after featuring in the Reds’ Round of 16 first-leg clash against Galatasaray in Turkey.
The Egyptian international made his 81st appearance for Liverpool in European competitions, moving past Carragher’s previous record of 80 matches.
Despite reaching the milestone, Salah was unable to find the back of the net during the encounter. The 33-year-old was substituted in the 60th minute and replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.
Salah joined Liverpool FC from AS Roma in 2017 and has since established himself as one of the club’s most influential players, delivering consistent performances and goals across domestic and European competitions.
Opinion: Salah’s Legacy at Liverpool Continues to Grow
Breaking Jamie Carragher’s record is yet another reminder of Mohamed Salah’s remarkable impact at Liverpool. Since arriving in 2017, the Egyptian has not only delivered goals but has also become one of the most consistent performers in the club’s modern era.
While he did not score in the match against Galatasaray, records like this highlight his longevity and importance to the team on the European stage. Few players combine durability, performance, and influence the way Salah has done for Liverpool.
As the seasons progress, achievements like this continue to strengthen his legacy, placing him firmly among the greatest players ever to wear the famous red shirt.
