Nasboi Slams Carter Efe for Claiming Skit-Making “Is Dead”
Popular Nigerian skitmaker Nasboi has criticized fellow skitmaker-turned-streamer Carter Efe for downplaying the relevance of skit-making in a recent interview.
Carter Efe, during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, sparked controversy when he claimed that skit-making “is de@d” and admitted feeling depressed as he transitioned into streaming.
Responding to the comments in an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Nasboi described downplaying the industry that gave Carter Efe his fame as a “crime.” He emphasized that evolving as a creator is natural, but dismissing the platform that launched one’s career is unacceptable.
“Evolving is not a bad idea but talking down on the industry that made you is a crime in my books. Caterefe is my friend, we speak every time. But he is a loose talker. You can’t say skit-making is de@d. People are blowing up every day with skit-making. The fact that people evolved doesn’t mean that the industries they are leaving are de@d,” Nasboi stated.
Opinion: Respecting the Industry That Shapes You
Nasboi’s response highlights an important lesson for content creators: evolution in career paths is natural, but dismissing the foundation that brought you recognition can alienate fans and peers. Skit-making remains a vibrant and influential platform in Nigeria’s entertainment space, offering exposure, creativity, and opportunities for emerging talents.
Carter Efe’s comments may have been intended to celebrate his growth into streaming, but it inadvertently undermined the efforts of countless skitmakers thriving in the industry. For creators, respect for the roots of your craft is as important as exploring new horizons.
