Ashleigh Plumptre Denies Fake Claims of Super Falcons Exit, Warns Fans Against Scammers

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has dismissed reports claiming she is planning to quit the Nigeria national team, describing the circulating statements as fake and fraudulent.

The controversy started after a Facebook page allegedly linked to the defender shared posts suggesting that Plumptre was unhappy with certain demands from officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and was considering leaving the national team.

However, Plumptre has strongly denied making such comments, insisting that the account is not hers and that those behind it are attempting to deceive Nigerians.

“I want to make it clear that I never made those comments and I have never asked anyone for money,” Plumptre said.

“The Facebook account circulating those claims is fake, and the people behind it are trying to deceive and exploit Nigerians.”

The Leicester City defender also revealed that law enforcement agencies have been informed and are working to identify those responsible, while efforts are ongoing to remove the fake account.

“We are taking the necessary steps to report the account and bring those responsible to justice. I urge everyone to ignore the posts and remain vigilant against online scammers using my identity,” she added.

Opinion: The incident highlights the growing challenge of online impersonation, especially involving public figures and athletes. Plumptre’s quick response is important in protecting her reputation, while fans should always verify information from official sources before believing or sharing viral claims.
