NSC, NFF Set Up Welfare Committee to Support Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON 2026

NSC, NFF Set Up Welfare Committee to Support Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON 2026

The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have established a welfare committee to ensure a smooth and successful campaign for the Super Falcons at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The committee has been tasked with handling welfare-related matters and providing the necessary support for the team as they prepare for Africa’s biggest women’s football competition.

NFF executive board member Aisha Falode will chair the committee, while Ruth David has been appointed as secretary.

Other members include Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye and former Super Falcons media officer Tobechukwu Oluchi.

The Super Falcons have been placed in Group C for WAFCON 2026 alongside Malawi, Zambia and Egypt. Coach Justine Madugu’s team will begin their campaign against tournament debutants Malawi at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Tuesday, July 28.

The competition will take place in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, 2026, with the four semi-finalists earning qualification to represent Africa at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Opinion: Setting up a welfare committee ahead of a major tournament is a positive step, especially for a team with Nigeria’s expectations and history in women’s football. Beyond technical preparation, proper logistics, player welfare and a stable environment could play a major role in helping the Super Falcons compete for another continental title.
