EFCC Re-Arraigns Blessing CEO Over Alleged N69.1 Million Fraud in Lagos
The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has again arraigned social media influencer and self-styled relationship therapist Okoro Blessing Nkiruka over an alleged fraud involving N69.1 million.
Blessing CEO was brought before Justice R.A. Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing the sum of N69,150,000.
At the start of the proceedings on Tuesday, prosecuting counsel C.C. Okezie urged the court to proceed with the arraignment, maintaining that the defendant had been properly served with the charges.
The defence, however, raised concerns regarding the timing of the service. Defence counsel Nkama Nneka informed the court that the charge had only recently been served on her client.
After considering the submissions of both parties, Justice Oshodi ruled that the arraignment should proceed in line with legal procedures. The charges were subsequently read to the defendant in open court.
The latest development adds to the legal challenges facing the popular social media personality. Earlier, on May 15, 2026, Blessing CEO was arraigned by the EFCC in connection with a separate alleged fraud case involving N36 million.
As with all criminal proceedings, the charges remain allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Public Influence and Public Accountability
The case has once again drawn public attention because of Blessing CEO's prominence on social media, where she has built a large following through relationship advice, lifestyle content, and commentary on trending issues.
High-profile cases involving celebrities and influencers often generate intense public debate, but legal experts frequently caution against rushing to conclusions before the judicial process runs its course. The role of the court is to examine the evidence presented and determine the facts based on law, not public opinion.
At the same time, the case highlights the increasing scrutiny faced by public figures in the digital age. As influencers continue to wield significant influence over millions of followers, allegations involving financial transactions and business dealings tend to attract heightened interest and demands for transparency.
For now, attention will shift to the courtroom, where the prosecution and defence will have the opportunity to present their cases as the legal process unfolds.
The outcome of the proceedings could have significant implications not only for Blessing CEO's public image but also for her career as one of Nigeria's most recognizable social media personalities.
