Mourinho Adds Chelsea Star Enzo Fernandez To Real Madrid Midfield Transfer Shortlist
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández as one of his preferred targets as he continues plans to strengthen the squad ahead of his second spell in charge at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Portuguese coach has already started making moves in the transfer market, bringing in former Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, but he is believed to be keen on adding more quality and depth to his midfield options.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fernández remains on a four-man shortlist being considered by Real Madrid, although the Spanish giants are yet to begin official talks with Chelsea.
“Enzo Fernández, still in a four-man shortlist at Real Madrid, waiting on final decision — and also on exits in midfield,” Romano wrote on X.
The report added that Real Madrid are also monitoring other midfield situations, with Nico Paz potentially staying at Como, while Dani Ceballos is expected to leave the club.
Fernández, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in a record-breaking deal, has established himself as one of the club’s key midfield figures. His passing ability, work rate and experience at international level have made him an attractive option for top European clubs.
A possible move to Madrid would reunite him with Mourinho, who is looking to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for major trophies.
However, with no negotiations currently underway between Real Madrid and Chelsea, the situation remains at the early stage as the Spanish giants assess their midfield priorities.
