Africa Magic Has Made A Documentary For Olu Jacobs

Africa Magic has aired a special documentary in tribute to Olu Jacobs, the Nollywood actor who died on 16 September at the age of 84. His wife, the actress Joke Silva, and a range of Nollywood stars revisit his journey from the theatre to film. The family has asked for privacy.
A career that predates the industry it helped build
Olu Jacobs trained and worked as a stage and screen actor in Britain long before Nollywood existed as a name. When he came home, he brought a classical discipline into an industry being invented on shoestring budgets, and he gave it something it badly needed: an actor whose presence alone told an audience the film was serious.
